David's an Angel

Currently my son David has become my newest challenge. When asked what he wanted painted for Christmas 2007 and he replied proudly that he'd like a portait of himself in oils, I nearly fell over. Surely he wasn't serious but oh yes he was. After an hour of happy snapping him in different poses we settled on this pose. Well I'm not too sure if he's really an Angel but I couldn't resist adding the wings.

Starting to add Details

Progress: Wings reshaped, skin tones nearly there, wrist bands addedd. He's about 2 weeks away from finished. Just waiting for the top of wings to dry alittle so I can add highlights and details to hair, then alittle more shading and fine detailing to be added.

Finished Angel David

Well I still wasn't happy with the wings, so they were reshaped again on the right hand side and added larger curls on the turnovers. I've includes some close ups of the details. I'm still not sure of the title of the painting it's going to be between 'Modern Angel' or 'DNA Self Portrait'
